A quick ping: I am still here!

It seems like forever since I have actually posted an article to this blog. I have not fallen off the face of the Earth yet. Between work and being sick for part of this month, I just have not had time nor energy to spend time on my “fun” things.

I have finally worked my way through the “Mastering HDR” book and have some tantalizing experiments that I plan to work on sometime soon and post on. The most interesting one will be using HDR tonemapping on an LDR image.

I also need to get back to finishing the painting of St. Georges’ Careenage harbor and post the last articles on the painting process itself.

Finally, I have really started spending some quality time developing in PRPC, a BRM platform by PegaSystems. Since I will be working on a team which utilizes this system, I decided to create a scenario for a fictitious company and develop an application tailored to it. I sense that there may be an article or two that this experience might generate. Who knows what this might bring?

I have been photographing since my college days. My current gear is a Nikon D-700 along with a plethora of lenses. My first serious camera was a Canon EF back in the early 80s. A Canon A-1 soon followed. Since then, I also have had a Minolta Maxxum, Nikon FM, Nikon F4, and Nikon Point and Shoot in my film days. I have had and maintained a private full color and B&W lab on and off for much of that time. I love traveling so there are many shots from states around us, out West, and other places. My daughter has been bitten by the photography bug too. She has spent time in a B&W lab and loves the excitement generated by just the smell of the chemicals. Maybe one day she will take over where I leave off....
